Diagnostic Imaging

See inside, same day.

Digital radiology and ultrasound performed in-house with board-certified radiologist interpretations — most studies read within an hour, so we can move from question to answer to treatment plan without delay.

From x-ray to interpretation
Digital X-ray

Sharp images, fast answers.

Direct digital radiography produces high-resolution images in under a minute. We use them to evaluate bones, joints, lungs, heart, abdomen, and foreign bodies — and to monitor healing over time.

  • Lateral and orthogonal views as needed
  • Low-dose protocols for cats and small dogs
  • Sedation only when required for diaphragm-clear shots
  • DICOM stored for life of patient
  • Side-by-side comparisons over follow-up visits
  • Same-day specialist read available
  • Hard-copy or digital sharing for referrals
  • Trauma assessment for chest and abdomen
Ultrasound

Soft tissue, in motion.

Abdominal and thoracic ultrasound shows organ texture and blood flow that x-rays miss. We use it to investigate vomiting, weight loss, urinary issues, masses, and heart murmurs.

  • Abdominal scans for liver, kidneys, bladder, GI
  • Echocardiogram for heart murmur workup
  • Doppler for blood flow assessment
  • Ultrasound-guided FNA when indicated
  • Pregnancy and fetal monitoring
  • Radiologist over-read on every complex case
  • Calm, non-sedate handling for most patients
  • Findings explained immediately, with images
Dental Radiology

Look beneath the gum line.

Up to 60% of dental disease is invisible on the surface. Full-mouth digital dental radiographs are part of every Comprehensive Oral Health Assessment & Treatment.

  • Full-mouth series during every COHAT
  • Tooth-by-tooth review for resorption and abscess
  • Pre- and post-extraction confirmation views
  • Identifies retained roots and unerupted teeth
  • Detects cysts and bony lesions early
  • Shared with you on a tablet at discharge
  • Stored alongside dental chart for next visit
  • Standard of care, never an upcharge
Specialist Reads

Two sets of expert eyes.

Complex or critical cases are sent for board-certified radiologist interpretation, often within an hour. You get a written report you can share with any specialist.

  • Board-certified veterinary radiologist
  • Most STAT reads back in 60 minutes
  • Written report sent to your email
  • Easy referral hand-off if specialist follow-up is needed
  • Second-opinion reads on outside images welcome
  • Clear documentation of measurements and findings
  • No additional appointment required
  • Included in the imaging fee — no surprise bills
When to image

When imaging makes the difference.

Common scenarios where same-day imaging changes the outcome.

ðŸĶī

Lameness or limping

Radiographs to evaluate joints, growth plates, and rule out fracture.

ðŸŦ

Persistent cough

Chest x-ray plus echocardiogram if a murmur is present.

ðŸĪĒ

Vomiting or not eating

Abdominal ultrasound to look for obstruction, masses, or pancreatitis.

âĪïļ

Heart murmur workup

Echocardiogram to grade severity and guide medication choices.

ðŸšĻ

Trauma assessment

Two-view chest and abdomen series after a fall or hit-by-car event.

🔍

Lump evaluation

Ultrasound-guided FNA for accurate sampling of internal masses.

Common Questions

FAQ.

Will my pet need to be sedated?
Most x-rays and ultrasounds are done awake with calm restraint. Sedation is only used when needed for safety or to get diaphragm-clear images.
How long does it take?
Plain radiographs take about 15 minutes. Ultrasounds run 30–45 minutes. Specialist over-read usually arrives within an hour.
Do I need to fast my pet?
For abdominal ultrasound we ask for a 12-hour fast so the stomach is empty. Water is fine. Radiographs do not require fasting.
Can you read images from another clinic?
Yes. Bring DICOM files or printed films and we can do a second-opinion read for $125.
Will I get a copy?
Yes — images and the radiologist report are emailed to you the same day, and stored in your pet's record permanently.
