Wellness Exams

A real exam. Not just a quick look.

A wellness exam is the most important thing we do — it's where we catch problems before they become emergencies. Every pet gets a full nose-to-tail evaluation, plenty of time to talk, and a personalized prevention plan based on their actual life.

Every Visit Includes

A thorough physical, every time.

We don't hurry. Every wellness exam covers the same comprehensive checklist, with extra time for whatever's on your mind. Pets get treats and breaks; you get clear answers.

  • Weight, BCS, vital signs
  • Eyes, ears, mouth & teeth
  • Heart & lung auscultation
  • Lymph node palpation
  • Abdominal palpation
  • Skin & coat assessment
  • Joint range of motion
  • Behavior & lifestyle review
Puppy & Kitten

Starting strong.

New pets need 3–4 visits in the first 4 months for vaccines, deworming, and growth checks. We make every visit fun — treats, praise, and gentle handling — so they grow up loving the vet, not fearing it.

  • First exam at 6–8 weeks
  • Vaccine series every 3–4 weeks
  • Deworming at each visit
  • Fecal & parasite screening
  • Nutrition & feeding guidance
  • Crate, potty, & socialization tips
  • Spay/neuter timing discussion
  • Microchipping at sterilization
Adult Pets

Once a year, every year.

Adult dogs and cats (1–7 years) should be seen at least annually. We update vaccines, screen for early disease, and adjust prevention plans as your pet's life changes — new home, new pet, new diet.

  • Comprehensive physical exam
  • Updated vaccines (lifestyle-based)
  • Heartworm/tick & flea prevention
  • Annual fecal screen
  • Baseline blood work (every 2–3 years)
  • Dental grading & cleaning timing
  • Weight & nutrition counseling
  • Behavior or training questions
Senior Pets

Twice a year, with bloodwork.

Pets age fast — a 10-year-old dog ages roughly the equivalent of a 4-year human jump between visits. Senior wellness catches kidney disease, thyroid changes, arthritis, and tumors early, when we can do something about them.

  • 6-month exams
  • Annual senior bloodwork & urinalysis
  • Blood pressure check
  • Thyroid screening
  • Mobility & arthritis assessment
  • Cognitive change discussion
  • Quality-of-life conversations
  • Pain management plans
Common Questions

Wellness exam FAQ.

How long is a wellness visit?
About 30 minutes for established patients, 45 for new patients or senior wellness. We don't double-book — you get the full slot.
My pet seems fine — do they really need an exam?
Yes. Pets are excellent at hiding illness. Many of the conditions we catch at wellness (kidney disease, heart murmurs, dental disease, masses) have no obvious symptoms early on. Catching them early changes outcomes.
Do you do same-day visits for sick pets?
Yes, every day. If your pet is sick, call us in the morning and we'll fit you in. We offer daytime emergency care during business hours.
Can my whole family come?
Absolutely. Bring kids, partners, anyone involved in your pet's care. We have plenty of room and we like a full team.
Can I do video appointments?
For follow-ups and quick questions, yes. New problems and physical exams need to be in person — we can't feel a lump or listen to a heart over a screen.
