For Antelope Valley pets

Advanced care for Palmdale pets, planned into one trip.

Encino Pet Hospital & Emergency helps Palmdale families get answers for dogs and cats with ongoing or complicated problems, combining exam, lab work and imaging in a single visit when possible. We are about an hour away and open 7 days a week, so call ahead and we’ll plan the day around your pet.

One trip, real answers

Make the hour on Highway 14 count.

When you are driving from Palmdale, the last thing you want is a visit that ends with “come back next week for the ultrasound.”

The route is Highway 14, the Antelope Valley Freeway, to I-5 and then I-405, about an hour traffic permitting. Before you leave, our team reviews why you are coming, so the exam, blood and urine tests and imaging can happen in one day when your pet’s case calls for it.

Lab results often come back in under an hour. X-ray and ultrasound studies are read by a board-certified veterinary radiologist. For harder cases, we offer a pet CT scan and can arrange endoscopy. You leave with findings and a plan, not a stack of loose ends.

Second opinions

Still not better? A fresh look can change the plan.

Some problems keep coming back: the dog who vomits every few weeks, the cat whose kidney values keep creeping, the itch that returns the moment medication stops.

Palmdale families often come to us for a second opinion on conditions like kidney disease, pancreatitis, chronic vomiting and diarrhea and skin allergies and itching. We start from the full history, look at what has already been tried and decide which test would actually move things forward.

Bring or send your records ahead: lab results, imaging reports, medication names and doses. That keeps us from repeating tests you already paid for and helps us focus the visit.

Plan ahead

Timing a Palmdale visit the smart way.

Morning arrivals give us the most room to run tests and share results the same day.

If your pet may need sedation or abdominal imaging, ask us about feeding before you leave home. Keep your pet’s usual medications on hand and bring them along.

For sudden, serious signs such as trouble breathing, collapse or a cat straining without producing urine, do not wait for an appointment. Call us, and see our emergency page and symptoms guide. We close at 7:30 PM, so late in the evening the nearest 24-hour emergency hospital is the right call for anything that cannot wait.

Common Questions

Palmdale Pet Care FAQ.

How long is the drive from Palmdale to Encino Pet Hospital?
Plan on about an hour, traffic permitting. Most Palmdale drivers take Highway 14, the Antelope Valley Freeway, to I-5 and then I-405 toward Encino. Free parking is available behind our building on Ventura Blvd.
Can you do diagnostics and give answers in one visit?
Often, yes. When you call ahead, we can line up the exam, lab work and imaging for the same day, and many lab results come back in under an hour. Some cases need more time, and we will tell you plainly if that is the situation.
Do you see pets for second opinions?
Yes. We see Palmdale pets for second opinions on ongoing problems such as kidney disease, pancreatitis, chronic vomiting and skin issues. Sending records before your visit helps us avoid repeat testing.
Is there an emergency vet option for Palmdale pets at night?
We are open 7:30 AM to 7:30 PM every day, not 24 hours. For a true emergency after 7:30 PM, go to the nearest 24-hour emergency hospital. For anything that can wait until morning, call us when we open.
What should I bring from Palmdale?
Bring previous lab results, imaging reports, a list of current medications and the medications themselves. A short written timeline of symptoms is also very helpful for the team.
