Hospital Care

What dog and cat hospitalization includes.

Some pets need more than a shot and a prescription. When vomiting won't stop, a pet can't keep water down, or bloodwork shows a serious problem, hospital care lets us treat them steadily and watch how they respond.

  • ✓IV fluids to correct dehydration and support the kidneys
  • ✓Anti-nausea medication and pain control
  • ✓Close monitoring of heart rate, breathing, temperature, and comfort
  • ✓Repeat bloodwork to track progress, with many lab results in under an hour
  • ✓Gentle nutrition support once your pet is ready to eat

Hospital care often follows diagnostics like ultrasound or X-rays, and it is part of how we manage urgent and emergency visits during the day.

Common Reasons

When a vet hospital for a sick dog or cat makes sense.

Hospitalization is about giving your pet's body the time and support it needs to turn the corner.

Call us right away, and don't wait to see if it passes, if your pet is vomiting repeatedly, can't keep water down, hasn't urinated, strains in the litter box, seems weak, collapses, or has pale gums. A male cat straining to pee is always an emergency.

Day & Night

Care during our hours, and a plan for the night.

We're open 7 days a week, 7:30 AM to 7:30 PM, including holidays, and hospitalized pets receive active treatment and monitoring throughout that day.

Some pets are ready to go home by evening with medications and instructions. Some pets can stay with us overnight when the doctor approves it. If that isn't the right fit, we'll make sure your pet has a plan for overnight care, and we'll talk it through with you before the end of the day so nothing feels rushed.

If a new emergency happens after 7:30 PM, go to the nearest 24-hour emergency hospital if it cannot wait. Otherwise, call us first thing when we open.

While your pet is with us, we'll keep you updated by phone. You'll hear how they're doing, what the latest bloodwork shows, and what comes next.

Cost & Travel

Estimates, approvals, and traveling to us.

Hospital care is planned around your pet's needs after an exam and assessment, and we'll go over the plan and costs with you. If your pet's needs change, we'll call you before adding anything.

Coming from farther away?

Pet parents from Encino and throughout the San Fernando Valley rely on us, and we also welcome families from Santa Clarita, Palmdale, Lancaster, and Ventura. If your pet is sick and you're coming a long way, call while you're on the road so we can be ready when you pull in. Arriving earlier in the day gives your pet more treatment time with us, and if it's getting late, we'll help you think through timing.
